Carolina Wrens Busy Building Nest

wrennestaSpring has brought the usual nesters back to our yard. In addition to the Black-capped Chickadees birdhouse nesters, we are happy to report the Carolina Wrens have decided to rent out a crevice in the gate post in which to build their nest.  Able to view the activity from inside our sunroom, I was able to get quite a few shots without bothering them. When I went out this afternoon to photograph the nest, they were not anywhere visible. This may be a decoy nest! Hopefully they will return and I will be able to monitor the activity.DSC_0517

  1. Jet Eliot says:

Great photos of a very busy pair of wrens! How nice to be so close, I hope it isn’t a decoy. 🙂

  2. I think it was a decoy. Haven’t seen them since the initial flurry of activity. I took the photos from inside our sunroom, so I don’t think my activity had anything to do with their departure. Maybe next year!
