E3, the last Red-tailed Hawk to fledge just a few days ago has unfortunately met with an accident. While resting on a nearby greenhouse roof, the roof vent began to close, trapping the bird. Although the vent motor was quickly turned off, E3 sustained a break to its wing. After an attempted flight off the roof, he was rescued and taken Cornell Wildlife Clinic. E3 will be undergoing surgery and all are hopeful that a full recovery will take place. The photograph taken today is of one of the two other fledglings.
